Freds passions run from football to politics and take in the cinema, theatre, music and education. He grew up in the Liverpool suburbs, worked in a munitions factory as a tooolmaker during the war, served in India with the RAF following the allied victory, before training to be a teacher. Later a Deputy Headteacher, Fred was committed to helping his charges to move on in life.

A lifelong Liverpool fan, he has witnessed both triumph and disaster and was present at both Heysel and Hillsborough. His love of life, his family and of mankind in general shines through.
